Ann Curry

Ann Curry was born in the United States and is a photographer and journalist. For more than forty-five years she has focused her work on reporting human suffering, especially in natural disasters and wars. Curry was a reporter for wars from Kosovo, Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo. Ann Curry was an American journalist, news reporter on TV and host who is best known as a correspondent for the Today program which is a morning-time broadcast newscast on NBC. Curry is well-known for her reporting of humanitarian crises and natural disasters particularly in nations that have been devastated by the war. Curry's mom is Japanese and her father is another American Naval Sailor. Her father met his mother in Japan as a stationed there after World War II. Family members were constantly on the move because of the military duties of her father. They eventually arrived in Ashland Oregon where Curry attended the high school. In 1978 she graduated in 1978 from the University of Oregon with a bachelor's degree in journalism. She was exposed to diverse cultures and situations in her early years is likely to have influenced the compassion in her approach to international topics. She subsequently moved to the position of an anchor and reporter for KGW an NBC affiliate located in Portland, Oregan. Four years later, she relocated in Los Angeles and became a reporter at KCBS TV. During her six-year association with the channel she was awarded two Emmy Awards.
